This WebQuest was created in the Spring of 2012 by university students Teri Hinrichsen, Allison Newman, Lynette Steger, Andrew Turner and Jordan Walter at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, as part of the preservice secondary education curriculum. This project focuses on Illinois Professional Teaching Standard#2, Human Development and Learning, by providing an opportunity to help all students grow in their intellecutal, social, and personal development. In addition, participation in this WebQuest provides a framework for teaching media and technology skills in the 21st century classroom.
The lesson is about the socioeconomic impacts the Great Depression had on the Mexican Americans living in the United States, as well as the effect on migratory patterns within in the Mexican American community. For a greater understanding of the complex relationship the United States has had with Mexico, we recommend reading Dr. David Fitzgerald's 2008 white paper focused on Mexican migration.
